PRESIDENTS' MESSAGE:

Fall is here. Happy Pumpkin and Spice Season! As the leaves come falling down, we see the beauty all on the ground. Indeed, what beautiful ground we did see on the walking tour in the beautiful and incredibly interesting San Francisco Botanical Garden in October. The tour was meticulously organized by our intrepid horticulturist Ingeborg McGlynn and was expertly guided by an excellent docent, who happens to be a Forest Hill resident, Dr. Joe Barbaccia. We learned so much about new and unusual looking trees and shrubs from many different parts of the world. We also saw at least a dozen varieties of fuchsia in all different colors and shapes. It was a delightful and educational afternoon. Thank you Joe! Thank you Ingeborg!

We look forward to seeing each of you on the 13th at our annual Book Fair and Food Drive. This year, we decided to extend our fund drive to help those who have been hurt in the ferocious North Bay wildfires. This is a tragedy that happened so close to us, it casted such a somber mood among us that our planned Oktoberfest seems unbefitting. Many near and dear club members have properties or relatives in the Wine Country, some were safe, some not so lucky.

We hope you will join us to lend a hand in helping those in need, and let our hearts be full of both THANKS and GIVING.

— Yen Bachmeier and Kathe Farrell
