PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE: On April 15, our General Meeting was one of the San Francisco Fine Art Museum’s Art Talks Series “Fashioning San Francisco: A Century of Style”, presented by Maureen Murray Fox one of our favorite docents. Here we all have the benefit of knowing more about the exhibition and have an insight into the haute couture at the time, the high fashion designers, who wore the clothing, and how the garments became part of the De Young’s collection. It was a big turnout, we had 40 people in attendance including 13 guests. Thank you to Yen Bachmeier for organizing and chairing the event and making this meeting truly delightful. The clubhouse was adorned with beautiful spring bouquets. I would also like to thank Nancy Hagosian and Anna Bolechowski for their gorgeous arrangements. The tea table was spectacular. Kudos to the refreshment team: Yen Bachmeier, Kathleen Fong, Amy Hartman, Saundra McCormick, Ingeborg McGlynn, Eva Monroe, Laura Outsen and Amy Quirk. We are grateful to Mel Bachmeier for doing the heavy lifting of setup and takedown, to Amy Quirk for doing the greeter duty at the entrance, and to all who helped on the day of the event. SPRING FLING RETURNS is happening on April 27 at 1:30 pm. This clothing and costume jewelry “swap & share” will benefit Bayview Mission, a charitable organization providing services, food and supplies to residents of the Bayview/Hunters Point neighborhoods. Open only for those who have donated: “in advance.” Although the donation period has closed, we may be able to accept a few more items particularly costume jewelry (no more shoes or purses needed). Please contact Amy Quirk at avquirk@comcast.net. May 20, at 1:00 pm, will be our traditional STRAWBERRY SOCIAL, followed by the installation of the new board and directors. Don’t forget to wear your favorite tea party hat! Please let Kathleen Fong know if you are planning to attend so we can provide enough of our special dessert. -Ann Rieger-Matthews
