PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE:

I trust that you had a relaxing and enjoyable time with your family and friends at Thanksgiving. This November has been good to us. We had an excellent turn out for our 9th annual Book-fest and Food Drive. I am pleased to report that we had exceeded our goal for the Food Drive with a record result of five full barrels of food (total weight 742 lbs) and $355 of fund raised for the San Francisco Food Bank. I’d like to thank Toni Buckley and Eleanor Barry for their hardwork to make this fall community service a big success. We particularly appreciate the Forest Hill community for its generosity and spirit of sharing and spreading happiness in this holiday season. Thank you!

The Garden Club was delighted to welcome Hans Gallas, one of our very own Forest Hill authors to our annual book-fest. Hans brought with him many copies of his beautifully illustrated and recently published book titled “Gertrude and Alice and Fritz and Tom: An Artful Adventure with Gertrude Stein and Alice B. Toklas.” Hans was happily staying to autograph his books. Neal Sofman and Anna Bullard, owners of Bookshop West Portal and their helper Sonia Lewis, a literary specialist and a Forest Hill neighbor, came and shared their knowledge and enthusiasm for the newest books on this year's literary list. Members who purchased books that day received a 20% discount. Big thanks to Sima Talai and her team for organizing the event and for providing the yummy refreshments. Flowers credit goes to Nancy Hagosian.

The Holiday Season is fast approaching and we have a busy and exciting December ahead of us. Don’t miss the Holiday Dinner Dance!
